Society osteopath Stephen Ward meets 19-year-old good time girl Christine Keeler at Murray's Cabaret Club in London's Soho. Although their relationship not primarily sexual, he took her under his wing, moved her into his Marylebone flat and introduced her to many of his wealthy friends.

Johnny Edgecombe, a petty criminal who was Chistine Keeler's lover, attacks Lucky Gordon at the Flamingo Club after Christine accuses Gordon of a sexual assault.  Lucky Gordon needed 17 stitches in his face.

Johnny Edgecombe fires shots at Christine and Mandy at Stephen Ward's apartmentEdgecombe was found guilty of possessing a firearm to endanger life & was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment.

The glare of publicity fell on Stephen and Christine, and it was inevitable that the public would learn of Christine’s affairs with John 'Jack' Profumo and Eugene Ivanov.

John 'Jack' Profumo is forced to deny in the House of Commons accusations of an affair with Christine Keeler.  His political opponents have insinuated that he – or “people in high places” – have spirited her away to stop her testifying at Johnny Edgecombe’s trial and have thus perverted the course of justice.

During a holiday in Italy, John 'Jack' Profumo comes clean to his wife, Valerie Hobson, about his extra-marital relations with Christine Keeler. Upon his return to the UK, he writes a letter to the Prime Minister admitting to lying about the affair in Parliament.

Stephen Ward's trial begins. It would later become clear that police intimidation, threats and blackmail lead to key witnesses providing false evidence, ultimately swaying the final verdict.

Stephen Ward was rushed to hospital after taking an overdose of barbiturates. This would be the last time Ward was seen in public until after his death when a new waxwork of him became a major attraction at Blackpool's Chamber of Horrors.

Stephen Ward dies after 3 days in a coma following a harsh attack on his character by the trial prosecuter and a hostile and biased summing-up by the judge.
